Lori Loughlin, Bribery and Fraudulent Admission, Massachusetts 2023

BOSTON – In a stunning turn of events, fashion designer Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have been sentenced to serve time for their involvement in a massive college admissions scam. The couple was found guilty of securing fraudulent admission for their two daughters at the University of Southern California (USC) by posing as athletic recruits.

Loughlin, 56, from Los Angeles, faces two months behind bars and must pay a $150,000 fine. Her husband, Giannulli, 57, has been sentenced to five months in prison with a $250,000 fine imposed.

Their scheme began in 2016 when they agreed to have William “Rick” Singer, the mastermind behind the scandal, facilitate their older daughter’s admission as a crew recruit. Giannulli even made a $250,000 charitable contribution as part of the deal. Their younger daughter was also admitted fraudulently using similar tactics.

In May 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. The couple’s actions are just the latest revelations in a case that has shocked the nation, exposing deep corruption within the college admissions process.

Singer has already pleaded guilty and is now cooperating with investigators. Loughlin and Giannulli are the 21st and 22nd parents to be sentenced in the ongoing investigation. For more information on this case, visit here.
