Antonio O’Neal, Methamphetamine Distribution, Kentucky 2021

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Antonio O’Neal, a 40-year-old Louisville native, was handed a 14-year federal prison sentence for his role in the distribution of over 50 grams of methamphetamine. The sentence, handed down on August 21, 2025, caps a months-long investigation that saw O’Neal admit to conspiring to distribute the drug from January 1, 2021, through August 16, 2023.

The U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner, along with Special Agent in Charge Olivia Olson of the FBI Louisville Field Office and Chief Paul Humphrey of the Louisville Metro Police Department, were among those who made the announcement. O’Neal’s plea on May 21, 2025, revealed his responsibility for distributing a staggering 960 grams of methamphetamine, which was procured through law enforcement-controlled purchases.

‘This sentence sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the distribution of dangerous drugs in our communities,’ said Bumgarner. The court’s decision to impose a 14-year term followed by five years of supervised release reflects the gravity of O’Neal’s actions, which were part of Operation Take Back America—a federal initiative aimed at combating drug trafficking and protecting local neighborhoods.

Operation Take Back America, an arm of the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN), has been pivotal in streamlining efforts against cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Assistant United States Attorneys Joshua Porter and Frank Dahl III, along with paralegal Adela Alic, successfully prosecuted the case.

There is no parole in the federal system, leaving O’Neal to serve his full sentence before beginning a new chapter of his life. The investigation and subsequent conviction mark another victory for law enforcement agencies committed to keeping communities safe from violent crime and drug trafficking.
