Boyer Thomas LaForge Jr., Aggravated Sexual Abuse, SD 2024

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: A Lower Brule, South Dakota man is facing a litany of heinous charges that could land him behind bars for life. Ron Parsons, United States Attorney, revealed yesterday that Boyer Thomas LaForge, Jr., 31, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Assault of a Spouse by Strangulation, and Child Abuse.

The alleged offenses took place in February 2019, with the Indictment charging LaForge with forcing his intimate partner into a sexual act through use of force, followed by an assault that involved strangulation and suffocating. The charges also include the cruel treatment of a child under the age of 18.

LaForge, who pleaded not guilty to all charges at his appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on April 26, 2019, faces life in federal prison as well as a $250,000 fine if convicted. He also risks supervised release for up to five years and a contribution of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may be imposed by the court.

Despite the serious nature of the accusations, LaForge is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is leading the investigation into these alleged crimes, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley prosecuting the case.

As of now, LaForge remains in custody under the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. No trial date has been scheduled yet.

This is a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Lower Brule and beyond, as it highlights the brutal reality of sexual abuse and child mistreatment. The public awaits the outcome with bated breath, hoping for justice to be served.
