Lower Brule Man Sentenced for Abusive Sexual Contact
A Lower Brule, South Dakota man has been sentenced to 12 months in custody and 5 years of supervised release for Abusive Sexual Contact, according to authorities. Wade Goodface, 20, was found guilty of the crime and is required to register as a sex offender.
The incident in question occurred on February 17, 2012, when Goodface visited the home of a female acquaintance and her brother, and asked her to go on a walk with him. Her brother accompanied them, and the three walked around the Lower Brule community.
During the walk, Goodface attempted to get his friend’s brother to leave them alone, and the group ended up at the place where Goodface was staying. In a continued attempt to get the brother to leave, Goodface engaged in sexual abuse, with the intent to harass him.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuting the case. Goodface was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which took place on February 12, 2013, before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Goodface was also ordered to pay $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund.
The victim in this case has not been named, but authorities have confirmed that she is a female acquaintance of Goodface. The community is still reeling from the news, and many are speaking out about the importance of addressing and preventing such crimes.
