A 37-year-old registered sex offender from Columbus, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material of infants and toddlers. Alan Martina admitted to the crime in US District Court, facing 10 to 20 years in federal prison. The guilty plea came after law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Martina’s residence in September 2025, seizing six electronic devices containing over 170 videos and 215 images of child sexual abuse.
Martina used apps like Session and Teleguard to discuss and trade child pornography with other users, sending disturbing messages in response to receiving images and videos of infants and toddlers being sexually abused. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) initially received a cyber tipline report from Kik regarding the uploading of child pornography from Martina’s account, leading to the investigation.
Martina was previously convicted in Franklin County of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and is a registered sex offender. His sentencing will be determined by the Court at a future hearing based on advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The guilty plea was announced by US Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II, along with other members of the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit.
