Luis Ernesto Caguana-Caguana, Unlawful Reentry, Massachusetts 2025

Luis Ernesto Caguana-Caguana, a 33-year-old Ecuadorian national, has been charged with one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien.

According to the indictment, Caguana-Caguana was most recently deported from the United States on March 6, 2014. It is alleged that sometime after his March 2014 removal, Caguana-Caguana illegally reentered the United States without permission.

Caguana-Caguana was arrested on May 4, 2025. He faces a charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien, which provides for a sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. The defendant is subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.

The charge was announced by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
