Elijah Pollard, a 25-year-old resident of Lynchburg, Virginia, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for distributing nearly 75 grams of pressed fentanyl pills. The sentence was handed down following Pollard’s guilty plea to possessing the deadly substance with intent to distribute.
Pollard’s arrest came after a series of controlled purchases by the Lynchburg Police Department, which led to a search warrant at his apartment in 2023. During the raid, authorities uncovered approximately 75 grams of pressed fentanyl pills, digital scales, and cash. Additionally, a loaded AR-15 was found against Pollard’s bedroom door.
U.S. Attorney Christopher R. Kavanaugh and ATF Special Agent in Charge Craig Kailimai announced the sentence. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Lynchburg Police Department collaborated in investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Lee Brett handled the prosecution for the United States.
This conviction is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence across all levels of law enforcement and communities. The strategy, launched on May 26, 2021, focuses on fostering trust, supporting community-based organizations to prevent violence, setting enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
Pollard’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the dangerous consequences associated with distributing fentanyl, a drug that has claimed countless lives. The Lynchburg community can now breathe a little easier knowing that Pollard will be behind bars for years to come.
