Brandon Cole Webber, Federal Gun Charge, Virginia 2022

Lynchburg, Va. – Brandon Cole Webber, 27, a Lynchburg resident, has been apprehended on federal charges related to the illegal possession of a firearm. This follows a series of alarming incidents involving Webber and drugs.

On May 5, 2022, a citizen flagged down law enforcement in Lynchburg after witnessing Webber fall out of a moving vehicle and fire shots at it. Further investigation led to the recovery of a loaded 9 mm handgun and suspected methamphetamine from a vehicle where Webber had been seated.

Just six months later, on November 29, 2023, Webber was involved in an overdose incident at the Lynchburg Grand Hotel. He fled the scene but was later apprehended outside the hotel, with police recovering a bag of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded Glock 38 handgun from his room.

Webber’s actions did not end there. On November 30, he faced state charges for firearm violations. However, after receiving treatment for an overdose at a local hospital, law enforcement could not locate him. They believe Webber fled Lynchburg with the assistance of Subject-1, a former City of Lynchburg Community Corrections and Pretrial Services Agency Officer who had engaged in a romantic relationship with Webber and provided him with sensitive information.

Subject-1 is accused of using their credentials to access information related to Webber’s case. United States Attorney Christopher R. Kavanaugh and the FBI are now investigating these allegations, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Vito Iaia prosecuting the case against Webber.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
