Zantravious Brooks, a 19-year-old from Bossier City, found himself in a world of trouble when police conducted a compliance check at a Shreveport townhouse on February 19, 2026. Brooks was present when officers searched the premises with the resident’s mother’s consent, and what they found was alarming: a loaded Glock Model 19 firearm modified with a ‘Glock switch’ machinegun conversion device. Brooks admitted to possessing the machinegun, which was hidden in a bedroom closet. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) later confirmed that the device had indeed converted the firearm into a machinegun.
On July 23, 2026, Brooks pleaded guilty in federal court to Possession of a Machinegun, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. The case was investigated by the Shreveport Police Department, the Caddo Parish Juvenile Probation Office, and the ATF, as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime.
