Macon Attorney Busted for Oxycodone, Methamphetamine Deal
A Macon attorney is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing oxycodone and methamphetamine. Holly Hogue Edwards, 36, made arrangements to sell the undercover agent ten tablets of oxycodone and an "eight ball" (three and a half grams) of methamphetamine on June 4, 2015.
Edwards met the undercover agent in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and provided a sample of methamphetamine to try. She then received $500 of official funds for the "eight ball" of methamphetamine and the ten oxycodone tablets. Edwards left to meet with her source of supply and was observed traveling to a nearby gas station to make the transaction.
According to the US Attorney, Holly Hogue Edwards faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and a $1,000,000.00 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for July 6, 2016 at 9:00 am in Macon.
US Attorney G.F. Peterman, III, stated, "So often we see people become involved in the drug trade because of lack of education, skills or opportunity to support themselves otherwise. This was obviously not the situation here and it is all the more sad because of that."
Special Agent in Charge Daniel R. Salter of the DEA Atlanta Field Division commented, "Ms. Edwards distributed oxycodone and methamphetamine, both of which could be deadly when used and/or abused. Because of spirited law enforcement cooperation in this case, she will now spend time in prison for her criminal actions, proving that no one is above the law."
Vernon Keenan, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, added, "Drug investigations like this one require a collaborative effort. This case highlights the excellent job done by law enforcement and prosecutors on all levels. The GBI remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the US Attorney’s Office."
