MACON, Ga. – A drug trafficking conspiracy that terrorized Middle Georgia with kilogram quantities of methamphetamine came to a fiery end as four kingpins were sentenced to federal prison today. Denzelle Diangelo Willis, 34, James Richard Fuller, 33, Julio Cesar Mendez, 29 (aka ‘Migo’), and Deion Jocoley Howard, 31, all of Macon, faced justice for their roles in pushing the deadly drug into the community.
Willis, the alleged ringleader, was handed a 278-month sentence, with an additional five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth on March 24. His cohort, Fuller, received 181 months in prison followed by five years of supervision after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute.
Mendez, who distributed meth and heroin, was sentenced to 135 months behind bars with a five-year supervised release term. Howard, the middleman, got 53 months for conspiracy charges, also following up with five years of supervision.
U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell presided over the sentencing hearings on July 10, where there was no mention of parole in the federal system. ‘All those associated with these criminal organizations pushing large quantities of the most deadly and addictive drugs into the Middle District of Georgia will find their cases in federal court,’ said U.S. Attorney William R. Keyes.
Jae W. Chung, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Division, emphasized the DEA’s commitment to holding drug distributors accountable: ‘These defendants had total disregard for their actions that far too often have tragic consequences.’
The investigation began in November 2022 after the seizure of nearly eleven kilograms of meth from Julian Coker’s organization. Willis and Mendez were uncovered selling meth and heroin, leading to a series of buys and surveillance operations that ultimately led to today’s convictions.
