TALLAHASSEE, FL – Willie Frank Hicks Jr., 42, of Madison, Florida, is looking at a potential lifetime in federal prison after admitting today to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The guilty plea was announced by U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin for the Northern District of Florida, but the real story is the poison Hicks was peddling through our communities.
The bust went down May 29, 2025, when Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled Hicks over for a traffic violation. Instead of cooperating, Hicks bolted, attempting a foot chase that ended quickly with his apprehension. A search revealed the grim truth: approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine, enough to devastate countless lives. This wasn’t a small-time operation; Hicks was a significant player in the flow of deadly drugs into our state.
U.S. Attorney Heekin didn’t mince words, praising the work of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and federal partners. He also directly linked the prosecution to the Trump administration’s “Operation Take Back America,” and the promises made by former Attorney General Pam Bondi to aggressively target drug dealers. “We deeply appreciate the outstanding work…to remove this offender and the deadly drugs he was peddling from our streets,” Heekin stated. The rhetoric is strong, and in this case, backed by a tangible victory.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, demonstrating a coordinated approach to tackling the methamphetamine epidemic. Assistant U.S. Attorneys James A. McCain and Eric K. Mountin are prosecuting the case, ensuring Hicks is held accountable for his actions. One kilogram of meth doesn’t just disappear; it has a supply chain, and investigators are likely digging to uncover Hicks’ network.
Hicks now faces up to life imprisonment, a harsh but fitting penalty for flooding our streets with this dangerous substance.
