Brandon Mincey, Mail Theft, Georgia 2025

⏱ 3 min read

Two men have been sentenced to prison for stealing mail from blue collection boxes in Savannah, GA. Brandon Mincey, 34, and Antwan Williams, 52, were caught by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service after investigators observed them stealing mail from boxes at 10701 Abercorn Street and 1348 Eisenhower Avenue in July 2025.

The thieves made off with checks from 310 pieces of mail, totaling over $58,000 in potential losses. The mail was recovered and returned to the victims.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge R. Stan Baker handed down the sentences, with Mincey receiving 40 months in prison and Williams getting 15 months. Both men must also pay a fine of $1,200 and serve three years of supervised release upon completion of their prison terms.

U.S. Attorney Margaret E. ‘Meg’ Heap called the case an ‘excellent example of good police work stopping a crime in progress and holding the criminals accountable.’ The sentencing sends a warning to mail thieves that they will be caught and punished, Heap said.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and local law enforcement agencies are working together to combat mail theft and protect the integrity of the mail.
