A brazen mail theft ring in Tallahassee has been busted, with two locals facing up to 10 years in the slammer. Christy Cody Holgate, 49, and Kim Demetrius Benson, 52, allegedly conspired to steal mail, with the scheme unfolding in Tallahassee.
According to sources, the duo’s mail theft racket was so brazen that it caught the attention of the Tallahassee Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service, who jointly investigated the case.
Both Holgate and Benson were arraigned in federal court, with a jury trial scheduled for June 2, 2026. If convicted, they face a maximum of five years in prison for conspiracy to commit mail theft and an additional five years for each count of mail theft.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Justin M. Keen. While an indictment is not proof of guilt, it’s a serious allegation that will likely land the duo in hot water.
