PENSACOLA, FLORIDA – Malcolm Jamal Norvilus, 39, of Fort Walton Beach, was hit with a 120-month federal prison sentence on July 1, 2025. The sentence was imposed after Norvilus pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine. United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin, announced the stiff penalty.
On July 25, 2024, Okaloosa County law enforcement was hot on the trail of a stolen vehicle when they collided with the driver, Norvilus, who attempted to flee. Officers apprehended him and discovered over 80 grams of methamphetamine tucked away in his pant leg, along with other narcotics.
“Thanks to the relentless efforts of our law enforcement partners, our communities are safer today,” said U.S. Attorney Heekin. “Our office will continue to fight drug traffickers and violent offenders.”
Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden echoed the sentiment: “This sentence underscores our commitment to hold dealers accountable. We’re proud to be part of this case.” DEA Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter emphasized the dangers of methamphetamine, saying, “DEA is dedicated to eradicating this dangerous substance from our neighborhoods.”
The investigation was a joint effort by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Etherton. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
