Man Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Minor

A Cherry Creek man has been sentenced for a heinous crime that shattered the life of a young girl.

Scott Ray Marrowbone, 37, was sentenced to 24 months in custody, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Marrowbone must also register as a sex offender after being convicted of Sexual Contact with a Minor.

The conviction arose from an incident that occurred between May 2005 and October 2007 when Marrowbone sexually assaulted a female minor near Eagle Butte, South Dakota.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Division.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson, who worked tirelessly to bring Marrowbone to justice.

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on July 25, 2013.

Marrowbone was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 16, 2012, and pled guilty to Count II of the Indictment—Sexual Contact with a Minor—on January 25, 2013.
