CONCORD – A harrowing chapter in Manchester’s crime saga comes to a close as Anthony Clagon, a 36-year-old man with a history of violence, was sentenced today to nearly two years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan announced the sentence handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph N. Laplante.
Clagon, who has already taken a life and is prohibited from owning firearms due to his past criminal conduct, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person in June 2025. “This defendant put our communities at grave risk by illegally arming himself with a gun,” said U.S. Attorney Creegan. “Today’s sentence sends a clear message that repeat offenders will be held accountable.”
Acting Special Agent in Charge Bryan DiGirolamo of the ATF emphasized the importance of prioritizing dangerous felons like Clagon. “Clagon represents a significant threat to public safety, and this prosecution is vital to our mission,” DiGirolamo said.
Court documents reveal that Clagon was convicted of second-degree murder in 2010. Upon his release from state prison, he resumed a life of crime, selling drugs including marijuana, cocaine, and crack. In November 2024, Clagon sold marijuana to a customer who used a firearm and two magazines as payment. Law enforcement discovered the firearm and ammunition during a search of Clagon’s apartment.
The ATF led the investigation, with valuable assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Hunter was responsible for prosecuting the case.
Clagon now faces 23 months in federal prison followed by 3 years of supervised release. His sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who continue to flout the law and place innocent lives at risk.
