GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: A Mansfield man has been indicted on federal charges of child pornography in the Northern District of Ohio, according to U.S. Attorney Carole S. Rendon.
Mitchell A. Owens, 29, is accused of receiving, distributing, and possessing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment alleges that between August and September 2016, Owens used the internet to transfer numerous computer files containing such content across state lines.
On October 11, 2016, authorities claim Owens possessed a computer hard drive with child pornography. The case highlights the ongoing battle against online sex crimes and the efforts of law enforcement agencies like the FBI and local police departments in the investigation.
The severity of the offense dictates that if convicted, Owens could face significant penalties determined by the court.
