Timothy J. Parr, Selling Misbranded Injectable Peptide Drugs, Ohio 2010

Former Mentor resident Timothy J. Parr, 31, has been indicted for distributing misbranded drugs totaling at least $220,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.

Parr, who operated under the guise of U.S. Lab Research, Inc., and later U.S. Lab Exports, Inc., sold injectable peptide drug products like Melanotan I, Melanotan II, and Bremalanotide online. These drugs were not approved by the FDA and were marketed as ‘for research only’ to bypass regulations.

From 2008 through December 2010, Parr reportedly generated approximately $220,000 from the illegal sales of these unapproved medications.

According to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District, this case highlights the ongoing commitment of the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations to crack down on distributors of dangerous and unregulated drugs. ‘This defendant ignored safety regulations in a greed-fueled scheme,’ said Dettelbach.

Special Agent Antoinette V. Henry emphasized the importance of consumer protection, stating, ‘We will remain vigilant in our efforts to protect consumers from these potentially hazardous products.’ The investigation was led by the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations.

Parr now faces a sentence determined by federal sentencing guidelines following his conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorney James V. Moroney is prosecuting this case.
