Christopher Coffer, Child Pornography Distribution, Ohio 2023

Christopher Coffer, 41, of Mansfield, Ohio, is facing federal charges after being indicted on multiple counts of child pornography offenses. The indictment, unsealed in U.S. District Court, alleges Coffer knowingly transported, received, and distributed visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct over a 21-month period.

Federal prosecutors say Coffer received and distributed numerous computer files containing images of real children in pornographic material between May 15, 2016, and February 22, 2018. Authorities claim the digital files were shared via online networks, part of a broader pattern of criminal behavior that culminated in Coffer’s arrest.

The indictment also charges that on April 4, 2018, Coffer was in possession of a computer containing child pornography. The device, seized during a related investigation, allegedly held multiple illicit images and videos depicting minors in explicit acts.

Separately, Anthony V. Coladangelo, 50, of Perry, Ohio, was also indicted on identical charges—receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography. According to court documents, Coladangelo’s illegal activity occurred between January 7, 2019, and February 24, 2019. On April 16, 2019, he was found to possess a computer containing at least one image involving a prepubescent minor, or a child under 12 years of age.

The cases were investigated jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Coladangelo’s case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Danielle K. Angeli, Brian Deckert, and Michael A. Sullivan are leading the prosecution. Both defendants face a maximum statutory sentence, though actual penalties will depend on trial outcomes and judicial discretion.

An indictment is not evidence of guilt. Both Christopher Coffer and Anthony V. Coladangelo are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The cases highlight ongoing federal efforts to combat child exploitation through digital channels, targeting individuals who distribute and hoard abusive material across state lines.
