Odysseus Japeth Tewee, a 20-year-old from Warm Springs, Oregon, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a minor. The disturbing crime occurred on September 23, 2024, when Tewee recorded and uploaded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online. A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) to identify Tewee as the suspect, and he was swiftly taken into custody with the help of the Warm Springs Police Department (WSPD) and the FBI.
A search of Tewee’s phone revealed over 100 images and 9 videos of CSAM, leading to a federal grand jury indictment on October 16, 2024. Tewee pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child on January 5, 2026. The investigation was a collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement partners, including the FBI, WSPD, PPB, and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).
The case was brought under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Assistant U.S. Attorney Pam Paaso prosecuted the case, which resulted in Tewee’s sentence of 180 months in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release.
The sentence serves as a warning to those who would exploit and harm children: law enforcement will work tirelessly to identify and prosecute offenders. Tewee’s case is a grim reminder of the dangers that lurk online and the importance of reporting suspicious activity to the authorities.
