A 37-year-old Medford man has been handed a 30-year sentence for a sickening crime that shocked his community. David Michael Burnett was found guilty of sexually abusing a minor in his care and distributing child sex abuse material.
Investigators with the FBI and Medford Police Department discovered over 300 videos and almost 8,000 images of child sex abuse material on Burnett’s devices. The abuse began in June 2024, and the victim was in Burnett’s care at the time.
Burnett was charged with two counts of sex crimes in August 2024 and pleaded guilty in February 2026. U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford announced the sentencing.
This heinous crime is a stark reminder of the dangers that children face in our community. Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors must work tirelessly to bring perpetrators like Burnett to justice.
