U.S. District Judge Sherri Polster Chappell handed down a 5-year and 5-month federal prison sentence to Nicholas Munson Troemner (41), a Marco Island resident, for his brazen act of illegal firearm possession.
Today’s judgment follows Troemner’s guilty plea on January 24, 2024, which saw him confess to owning a loaded Taurus pistol in North Fort Myers. The court also mandated the forfeiture of the lethal weapon and its ammunition.
According to court documents, the fateful encounter occurred on February 16, 2023. Troemner, already mired in multiple prior felony convictions, was explicitly forbidden from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law. Yet, he ignored the stern warning, posing a threat to public safety and illustrating the dangers of repeat offenders.
