LAS VEGAS – Jacobo Aguilar Humberto, 43, of Las Vegas, is headed to federal prison for over eight years after being sentenced Tuesday for running a substantial methamphetamine and heroin operation in the city. The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Gloria M. Navarro, reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the damage inflicted on the community.
Court documents reveal that from January 2022 to September 14, 2022, Humberto conspired with Eduardo Flores-Martinez to peddle large quantities of both methamphetamine and heroin in exchange for cash. Humberto, the alleged mastermind, frequently utilized Flores-Martinez as his courier, directing him to make drug sales on his behalf. The pair operated as a well-oiled machine, consistently pushing narcotics onto the streets of Las Vegas.
The operation came crashing down on September 14, 2022, when law enforcement agents executed a search of Humberto’s vehicle. The results were damning: one pound of heroin, one ounce of methamphetamine, $2,060 in cash, and two loaded firearms. Simultaneously, a traffic stop of Flores-Martinez’s vehicle yielded another pound of methamphetamine, one ounce of heroin, and yet another loaded firearm. A subsequent search of Humberto’s residence uncovered a staggering $16,156 in cash and three additional firearms – clear evidence of a lucrative, and dangerous, criminal enterprise.
Humberto ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Judge Navarro sentenced him to 97 months imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release. Flores-Martinez also pleaded guilty to the same charge and received an 84-month prison sentence, also followed by five years of supervised release, on July 25, 2023.
United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Adams for the DEA Las Vegas District Office jointly announced the sentencing. This case underscores the relentless efforts of federal and local law enforcement to dismantle drug trafficking organizations and protect the public. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the DEA and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Brister leading the prosecution.
