Mareca Rodriquez, a 28-year-old woman from Valentine, Nebraska, has been accused of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in South Dakota.
According to court records, Rodriquez was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 11, 2020, for her alleged role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy that took place in the District of South Dakota and elsewhere.
The indictment alleges that Rodriquez, along with others, knowingly and intentionally combined, conspired, confederated, and agreed to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine from November 1, 2019, to February 4, 2020.
Rodriquez appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on February 14, 2020, and pleaded not guilty to the indictment. She was subsequently remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial.
The maximum penalty for conviction is up to life in prison and/or a $10,000,000 fine, a lifetime of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
The investigation into Rodriquez’s alleged crimes is being conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook is prosecuting the case.
A trial date has not been set in the case against Rodriquez, who is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
