York Man Sentenced to Over 14 Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking

HARRISBURG – A York man has been sentenced to 176 months in prison for his role in trafficking crack cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl in York, Pennsylvania.

Mark A. Woods, age 32, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner on October 7, 2024, for his crimes, which were investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the York City Police Department.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Woods was found to be in possession of the drugs, as well as a gun, on July 30, 2019. Following his arrest, Woods entered a guilty plea and admitted to his crimes.

When imposing sentence, Judge Conner noted that Woods’ extensive criminal history, which includes both drugs and guns, and his failure to be deterred by previous prison sentences, were significant factors in his decision.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. The case was also brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic of heroin use and distribution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Consiglio is prosecuting the case. The Heroin Initiative, led by the United States Attorney’s Office, targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit heroin-related offenses.

Woods will serve his 176-month prison sentence, bringing an end to a case that highlighted the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking and heroin use in the community.
