A massive cocaine trafficking operation in Western Pennsylvania has seen a major blow dealt to the perpetrators with the sentencing of Peter Williams, a 58-year-old Northfield, Ohio resident.
Williams was handed down a 34-month prison sentence by Senior United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti after he pleaded guilty in early 2021 to possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base.
The prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release, as ordered by Judge Conti.
The investigation that led to Williams’ conviction began on January 5, 2021, when he was the subject of a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. It was during this stop that over 300 grams of cocaine were discovered in his possession.
Williams’ lengthy and notorious history of committing serious crimes, spanning over 40 years and multiple states, only adds to the severity of this conviction.
Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller led the prosecution of this case on behalf of the United States.
United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Pennsylvania State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation for their tireless efforts in leading the investigation that resulted in Williams’ successful prosecution.
This sentence sends a clear message that those involved in the trafficking of illicit substances will be held accountable for their actions.
