William Corey Warner, Cocaine Trafficking, Vermont 2026

⏱ 3 min read

William Corey Warner, a 37-year-old Rutland, Vermont man, was involved in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with law enforcement. On May 20, 2024, Warner, who was wanted by police, was a passenger in a rental vehicle that entered a parking lot in Rutland. When approached by Rutland police officers, Warner made a desperate attempt to escape, moving into the driver’s seat and striking an unmarked police vehicle and an occupied civilian vehicle before fleeing on foot.

Warner’s actions that day were just the tip of the iceberg. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 34 grams of cocaine and 34 grams of cocaine base, which Warner had intended to distribute to others. But that wasn’t his only run-in with the law. On July 21, 2024, Warner was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Massachusetts State Police on I-91 North, where troopers discovered over 500 grams of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Warner’s history of crime dates back to 2011, when he was convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and received a 60-month sentence. He has also been convicted of two burglaries in the State of Vermont and has numerous violations of federal supervised release and state probation and parole. On January 9, 2026, Warner pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, and on May 5, 2026, he was sentenced to 100 months in prison, followed by a 3-year term of supervised release.

The sentence is a result of the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the Rutland police and the Massachusetts State Police. Warner’s case is a prime example of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Vermont and the determination of law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice.
