Burlington, Vermont, was the scene of a crack cocaine sale gone wrong. On November 15, 2024, Lori Hunt, 54, sold 2.66 grams of the stuff to a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) undercover agent. She arranged the deal over the phone and had her co-defendant, Silas Hunt, 30, handle the handoff at their shared pad on North Winooski Avenue.
HSI got wind of the deal and made the arrest on March 4, 2025. Both Hunts were busted, and Lori Hunt copped to the crime on December 29, 2025. She was sentenced to 9 months in the slammer, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Silas Hunt, Lori’s co-defendant, got a year and a day in the joint, plus three years of supervised release, on November 25, 2025. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan A. Ophardt gave props to HSI for their investigatory work.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig S. Nolan handled the prosecution, while Karen Shingler, Esq., and Robert Behrens, Esq., represented the Hunts, respectively.
