Mark Wood, 56, of Bangor Pleads Guilty to Bath Salt Trafficking

A Bangor resident has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute bath salts in Penobscot County, Maine.

Mark Wood, 56, of Bangor, pleaded guilty on an unspecified date in U.S. District Court to conspiring to distribute the bath salts MDPV and Alpha-PVP between January 2012 and March 2014.

According to court records, Wood conspired with others to distribute the bath salts and obtained them from other conspirators. He then delivered them to friends and associates who paid for them. Additionally, Wood was paid in drugs for driving his supplier on drug deliveries and by other users and dealers who were buying drugs from his supplier.

The case was investigated by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Wood faces up to 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, and supervised release of between three years and life. His sentencing will be determined after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
