Marrero Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Bank Robbery

A brazen bank robbery in Marrero, Louisiana, ended with a 30-month prison sentence for the perpetrator. TRAVIS CARTER, a 38-year-old Marrero man, was sentenced after pleading guilty to a one-count indictment for bank robbery.

According to court documents, on July 22, 2016, CARTER donned a disguise of a baseball hat, sunglasses, and a towel covering his face to rob the Whitney Bank in Marrero. He escaped with over $4,000 in U.S. currency.

However, CARTER’s attempt at anonymity was short-lived. Citizens identified him after local news outlets reported the robbery and featured still images of him captured from bank surveillance. U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan handed down the sentence, which includes 30 months of incarceration, followed by two years of supervised release, restitution in the amount of $4,444.95, and a $100 special assessment.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s diligence in solving this case is a testament to their commitment to keeping our communities safe. This sentence brings a sense of closure to the victims and the community affected by this crime.
