April Adams, Fentanyl Distribution Conspiracy, Arkansas 2024

It’s a grim tale of drug-fueled tragedy in Saline County, AR. April Adams, 62, and her daughter Amber Church, 38, have been found guilty by a federal jury of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl that led to a death. The duo faces decades behind bars for their roles in the distribution of the deadly substance.

The trial, which concluded this week, revealed a nightmarish sequence of events on April 16, 2023. Four overdoses at a Crab Apple Circle residence left one person dead and three others fighting for life. Adams and Church were among those present.

According to the evidence, the women distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl at the gathering. Church, who also ingested the substance, was among those who overdosed. Adams waited nearly 45 minutes before notifying anyone about the overdoses, choosing to call a friend instead of emergency services.

The jury, after just over four hours of deliberation, returned guilty verdicts on all charges against both women. They face a minimum of 20 years in federal prison for their roles in the distribution of fentanyl and Adams also faces an additional 20 years on the methamphetamine charge.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which aims to dismantle high-level criminal organizations. The investigation was conducted by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant United States Attorneys Edward Walker and Jordan Crews prosecuting the case.

Adams and Church will remain in federal custody until their sentencing, scheduled at a later date. The drug offenses carry additional penalties of up to $1,000,000 fine and at least three years of supervised release after prison.
