Joseph Bourabah, Cyberstalking, Virginia 2024

NORFOLK, Va. – A relentless cyberstalker from North Bethesda, Maryland, has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for his year-and-a-half campaign of harassment against several victims.

Joseph Bourabah, 27, was found guilty of systematically targeting multiple individuals, their families, tenants, and former employers with a relentless barrage of cyberattacks. The harassment spanned hundreds of incidents, including fake advertisements, social media postings, events on Eventbrite, and the hiring of unwanted services.

Starting in September 2021, Bourabah used a fake account to share pornographic content and spread false accusations about his victims on Facebook. He escalated his attacks by sending explicit videos to the victim’s family and friends and posting nude images of the victim’s mother on social media.

Bourabah’s manipulation didn’t stop there. He advertised the victim’s mother’s pet ducks for free on Craigslist, leading to their theft, and listed her trampoline as free, resulting in its loss. Additionally, he created a fake ad offering another victim’s car for free, almost having it towed.

In January 2023, Bourabah organized a party titled “[victim’s name] Pedo Kink Party,” using the victim’s image and address. He also used Craigslist to promote events targeting the victim’s mother, ordering unsolicited services such as tree cutting and carpet cleaning at her residence.

U.S. Attorney Jessica D. Aber and FBI Special Agent in Charge Brian Dugan announced Bourabah’s sentence after it was imposed by Senior U.S. District Judge John A. Gibney Jr. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Heck and Elizabeth Yusi prosecuted the case.
