A Mason City, Iowa man is facing justice for child exploitation after a friend’s burglary went sideways.
Parker Jon Thompson, 20, helped his pals plan a heist on a local gun shop in June 2025. The crew made off with several firearms, and Thompson got his hands on at least two of them.
But the real kicker came when cops searched his phone during the investigation. That’s when they found a stash of child pornography. Further digging revealed Thompson had recorded multiple kids in compromising positions and even asked one to send him explicit pics.
Thompson copped to using, persuading, and enticing minors to produce explicit content between March and September 2025. He also admitted to possessing the stolen firearm in June 2025.
Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative, is behind the case. The program aims to combat child sexual exploitation nationwide.
