Robert Consorti, a 64-year-old Massachusetts man, pleaded guilty in federal court in Rhode Island to attempting to entice and coerce a minor into illicit sexual activity, as well as interstate travel and child pornography charges. The crimes occurred in October 2024, when Consorti traveled to a Warwick hotel expecting to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex, but was instead met by law enforcement. Consorti had been communicating online with who he thought was the girl, but was actually a police officer.
Consorti’s electronic devices were searched, revealing evidence of the crimes, including child pornography. He admitted to beginning online communications with a 13-year-old, traveling to meet the child for sex, and taking substantial steps to carry out the plan before his arrest. The case was investigated by the Rhode Island State Police ICAC Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from other local police departments.
The guilty plea was entered before U.S. District Court Chief Judge John J. McConnell, Jr. Consorti is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13, 2026, with the sentence to be determined by the court based on federal guidelines and other factors. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John P. McAdams.
The ICAC Task Force, which investigated the case, is a team of law enforcement officers dedicated to combating online child exploitation. The task force is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police and other local agencies, working together to identify and prosecute individuals who engage in these types of crimes.
