Local Man Charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
Muskogee, Oklahoma – On August 17, 2025, Matias Noah Ramirez, 26, of Okemah, Oklahoma, committed a heinous crime that left a victim with severe burns. According to investigators, Ramirez threw boiling water onto the victim’s back, intending to do bodily harm.
The crime occurred in Hughes County, within the boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Matias Noah Ramirez entered a guilty plea to one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm.
The charge is punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Ramirez will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. Assistant U.S. Attorney Morgan Muzljakovich represented the United States.
The investigation into the crime was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department, and the Okemah Police Department. The case highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in combating violent crime.
