MUSKOGEE, OK – Brandon Ray Parker, 41, of McAlester, Oklahoma, is headed to federal prison for 6.5 years after pleading guilty to possessing horrific material depicting the sexual exploitation of children. Parker was sentenced to 78 months imprisonment followed by 5 years of supervised release, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced today.
The case, rooted in a grim investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, revealed Parker knowingly possessed, attempted to possess, and accessed visual depictions involving minors engaged in sexually explicit acts. The indictment detailed a timeline between October 2013 and October 2, 2015, during which Parker’s actions violated Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2252(a)(4)(B) and 2252(b)(2). The material itself was illegally transported across state lines via computer.
Federal prosecutors presented evidence demonstrating the depravity of Parker’s actions, highlighting the deeply disturbing nature of the content he sought out and possessed. The visual depictions met the legal definition of material involving the sexual exploitation of children, as defined by Title 18, United States Code, Section 2256(5) and Sections 2256(2)(A)-(B). This wasn’t a momentary lapse; it was a sustained pattern of illegal activity.
District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the sentencing hearing in Muskogee. The judge made it clear Parker will remain in federal custody immediately, awaiting transfer to a designated facility to begin serving his non-paroleable sentence. The details of the facility have not been released. This is a standard procedure to ensure the safety of the public and the security of the prison system.
Assistant United States Attorney Edward Snow spearheaded the prosecution, building a solid case based on the FBI’s meticulous investigation. The Department of Justice continues to prioritize cases involving the exploitation of children, allocating significant resources to investigate and prosecute individuals like Parker who prey on the vulnerable. This sentencing sends a clear message: such crimes will not be tolerated.
