JACKSON, MS – Samual McCray, 26, of Jackson, Mississippi, will spend the next 4 years and 2 months behind bars after being sentenced this week for illegally possessing a firearm. The sentence stems from an incident where McCray was found armed during a domestic disturbance call, adding another chapter to his criminal history.
On April 16, 2021, Jackson Police Department officers responded to a reported disturbance at a local apartment. The scene quickly escalated when officers discovered not one, but two firearms belonging to McCray within the residence. The search didn’t stop there; officers also recovered a third firearm tucked into McCray’s front left pants pocket as they took him into custody. It was a clear violation of federal law.
McCray’s prior felony conviction for manslaughter is what barred him from legally owning any firearms. Despite this, he was found armed during a volatile situation, raising serious concerns about public safety. The discovery of three weapons paints a picture of someone with a blatant disregard for the law and a potential threat to the community.
