PITTSBURGH – Rahde Williamson, alias ‘Raw’, a 25-year-old resident of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, faces federal charges for distributing fentanyl that resulted in a fatal overdose and illegal possession of ammunition.
United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced the indictment by a federal grand jury on August 4. The first charge alleges Williamson conspired to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl between November 2018 and August 2019, with the distribution causing an overdose death in June 2019.
The second indictment charges Williamson, a convicted felon, with possessing ammunition on July 15, 2020. His prior convictions include federal drug charges for conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession of heroin.
Under federal law, individuals with a criminal history involving a prison sentence exceeding one year are prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition. The court was informed that Williamson was on federal supervised release when he purchased the ammunition.
The defendant may face life imprisonment, a fine of up to $11,250,000, or both. Assistant United States Attorney Nicole Vasquez Schmitt is prosecuting the case for the government.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the City of Monessen Police Department as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a DOJ initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through community-based solutions and enforcement efforts focused on the most violent offenders.
