Kuron Evans, a 47-year-old from Dayton, Ohio, has been sentenced to 130 months in prison for his role in a narcotics conspiracy involving over 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and cocaine. In January 2024, Evans mailed a package from a post office in Las Vegas to his nephew in Trotwood, Ohio, using fake names for both the sender and recipient. The package was intercepted by law enforcement and found to contain approximately 1 kilogram each of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Evans and his nephew, Dorian Evans, also 47, were arrested in February 2024 in Trotwood. Dorian Evans was sentenced to 60 months in prison in March. The investigation was conducted by the Montgomery County Regional Agencies Narcotics & Gun Enforcement Task Force, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The sentence was imposed on April 7 by Senior U.S. District Court Judge Thomas M. Rose. Assistant United States Attorney Ryan A. Saunders represented the United States in the case. The prosecution is a result of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Southern District of Ohio.
The use of the United States mail to traffic illicit substances is a serious offense, and this case demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to intercept and prosecute those involved in such activities.
