A massive cache of cocaine arrived in Buffalo, but the intended recipient didn’t get the package – the feds did. Daniel Lopez-Rivera, 40, of Buffalo, is accused of trying to receive seven pounds of the stuff from Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service got wind of the suspicious package on April 12, 2026. They intercepted a Priority Mail parcel sent from Puerto Rico to a Tonawanda Street address in Buffalo, which is tied to Lopez-Rivera. On April 14, 2026, they found the parcel contained about seven pounds of cocaine.
Under the guise of a controlled delivery, investigators handed the package over to Lopez-Rivera on April 16, 2026. He was observed taking the package from another individual and bringing it back to his Chadduck Avenue residence. That’s where he was caught and taken into custody.
Lopez-Rivera made an initial court appearance before Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was released on conditions. His case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt I. Kass.
