Meth Dealer Pleads Guilty in West Virginia
A 45-year-old man from Hansford, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to a federal crime related to methamphetamine distribution. James Arnold Scott admitted to aiding and abetting the distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to Scott’s own statements and court documents, on January 17, 2020, he aided and abetted one of his drug sources of supply in the distribution of four ounces of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $1,150. The transaction took place in Huntington, West Virginia.
Law enforcement later executed a search warrant at Scott’s residence, seizing cash, marijuana, methamphetamine, four firearms, one of which was stolen, and a ballistic vest. Scott’s actions have put him in line to face serious consequences.
Scott now faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced on October 12, 2021. His crimes have caught the attention of the authorities and have led to significant charges.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and commended the investigative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant United States Attorney Negar Kordestani is handling the prosecution of Scott’s case.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing where Scott pleaded guilty. The case has been assigned the number 3:21-cr-00078.
