Jordan Mefferd, a 47-year-old from Pocahontas, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and illegally possessing firearms in the Fort Dodge area. From July 2024 to September 2025, Mefferd worked with others to peddle over a pound of methamphetamine in Webster County, Iowa. During this time, he made four controlled sales of meth to agents, totaling over 200 grams of pure meth. A search warrant executed at his residence in September 2025 turned up a stash of meth, $9,684.51 in cash, four firearms, and various ammunition.
Mefferd’s guilty plea came on June 15, 2026, in federal court in Sioux City. He admitted to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm due to his previous felony convictions, which include conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and burglary. His prior convictions also include possession of lithium, possession of a controlled substance, eluding, and escape.
Mefferd’s sentencing is pending, but he faces a minimum of 15 years behind bars and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. He could also be slapped with a $60,250,000 fine and at least ten years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Iowa State Patrol.
The guilty plea is a significant blow to methamphetamine distribution in the Fort Dodge area. Mefferd’s operation was a major supplier of the highly addictive drug, and his conviction will likely disrupt the local methamphetamine trade.
