Meth Kingpin Gets 10 Years
A Parkersburg man has been sentenced to 123 months in prison for federal drug and gun crimes. Shaun Price, 41, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents, the South Charleston Police Department attempted to stop Price’s vehicle in Cross Lanes on December 7, 2020, but he fled, leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit. The pursuit ended in South Charleston, where officers were able to stop Price’s vehicle using spike-strips. Officers recovered approximately 7.85 grams of meth and a loaded 9mm Taurus PT111 handgun from the vehicle.
Price admitted to intending to sell the methamphetamine and possessing the firearm to protect his drugs and money. Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the South Charleston Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Nick Miller handled the prosecution, and Senior United States District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr. imposed the sentence. Price’s case, 2:21-cr-00051, can be found on the website of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia, as well as on PACER.
The investigation into Price’s activities highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine trafficking in West Virginia. As the state continues to grapple with the opioid epidemic, law enforcement agencies are working to combat the rise of methamphetamine use and distribution.
Shaun Price’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in federal drug and gun crimes. The Grimy Times will continue to monitor the case and provide updates as necessary.
