Robert Shane Willis, a 46-year-old man from Perry, Florida, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. On March 5, 2025, Willis sold 6.6 grams of 97% pure methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer, despite being on federal supervised release for similar crimes. Willis has a history of involvement in the illicit drug trade in Taylor County and the City of Perry, and his latest conviction is a result of a concerted effort by law enforcement agencies to remove him from the community.
Willis pleaded guilty to the distribution of 5 grams or more of methamphetamine and was sentenced by the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, John P. Heekin. The sentence is a significant blow to Willis, who has spent years committing crimes and distributing dangerous drugs to the community.
The Perry Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) all played a role in the investigation and prosecution of Willis. According to Chief Jamie Cruse, Jr. of the Perry Police Department, Willis’ conviction and incarceration will remove him from a society to which he has distributed dangerous drugs for years.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the spread of methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs in North Florida. With Willis off the streets, the community is safer, and the flow of illicit drugs has been disrupted.
