FAYETTEVILLE, AR – In a bold move to combat the growing methamphetamine epidemic, authorities have taken down a major player in the illicit trade. Timothy Colhour, a 24-year-old Otis, Oregon resident, has been sentenced to 170 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $4,800.00 fine for his role in distributing methamphetamine and using a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking offense.
Colhour’s downfall came after a confidential source indicated to officers in December 2014 that they could purchase methamphetamine from him. As part of an investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine in the region, investigators made contact with Colhour and found him in possession of approximately 26.16 grams of pure methamphetamine hydrochloride and a loaded 9mm handgun.
This case was a collaborative effort between the Rogers Police Department, the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly Davis prosecuted the case for the United States.
The conviction serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in the illicit methamphetamine trade. As law enforcement continues to crack down on methamphetamine trafficking, it is essential to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
The case highlights the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activity. The confidential source who came forward with information about Colhour’s activities played a critical role in bringing this case to light.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any information regarding methamphetamine trafficking to the authorities. Together, we can work towards a safer and healthier community.
