Meth Kingpin Sentenced to 4 Years Behind Bars
POCATELLO – A notorious methamphetamine dealer was finally brought to justice yesterday, as Scottie Lee Hill, 35, of Pocatello, Idaho, was sentenced to 48 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Hill appeared before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge at the federal courthouse in Pocatello. The judge’s stern decision was a result of Hill’s guilty plea on September 30, 2013, and the overwhelming evidence gathered by investigators.
According to the plea agreement, on September 24, 2012, Hill went to a location in south Pocatello, in Bannock County, Idaho, in possession of methamphetamine, which he intended to distribute. The brazen move not only put the community at risk, but also showed a blatant disregard for the law.
Wendy J. Olson, U.S. Attorney, praised the efforts of the Idaho State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their tireless work in bringing Hill to justice. ‘Their dedication to keeping our communities safe is evident in this case, and we are grateful for their efforts,’ she said.
Hill’s sentence also includes four years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service. The harsh punishment is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in methamphetamine trafficking.
As the dust settles on this case, one thing is clear: the war on methamphetamine is far from over. Law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those responsible for perpetuating this deadly trade.
Hill’s case serves as a cautionary tale for those involved in methamphetamine trafficking. The consequences of getting caught are severe, and the punishment is always worth the risk.
