April Nikkel, a 37-year-old woman from Sioux City, Iowa, has pleaded guilty to a meth distribution conspiracy that spanned nearly a year. From January 2025 to November 2025, Nikkel conspired to distribute more than three pounds of methamphetamine, with some of the deals going down near local parks, including Fairmount City Park and Cecillia City Park. The distributions, which totaled over 184 grams of pure meth, were often made to individuals cooperating with law enforcement.
Nikkel’s guilty plea, entered on May 18, 2026, in federal court in Sioux City, marks a significant blow to the meth trade in the area. The case was investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, a multi-agency team that includes the DEA, Homeland Security Investigations, and local law enforcement.
As a result of her plea, Nikkel faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a possible maximum sentence of life behind bars. She could also be fined up to $10 million and will likely spend at least 10 years on supervised release after her imprisonment.
