Mexican Cop Charged with 20 Pounds of Narcotics
RIVERSIDE, California – A Tijuana municipal police officer is facing federal indictment for allegedly transporting nearly 20 pounds of narcotics. Noe Raygoza-Garcia, 33, was arrested on March 13 after Border Patrol agents found heroin and methamphetamine hidden in his vehicle.
According to court documents, Raygoza was driving erratically on Interstate 15 near the Border Patrol checkpoint north of Temecula when he was stopped by authorities. A drug-detecting canine alerted to the vehicle, leading agents to discover the narcotics hidden in the rear seat.
Raygoza, a Mexican national, is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine. If convicted, he would face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a maximum possible penalty of life.
The case against Raygoza was investigated by the United States Border Patrol. He is currently being held without bond and is expected to appear in United States District Court today to be arraigned on the federal indictment.
The indictment was handed down on March 27, and Raygoza’s arrest comes after a series of high-profile cases involving corrupt law enforcement officials.
The indictment details the alleged crimes committed by Raygoza, including the possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine. The indictment also outlines the potential penalties, including the mandatory minimum sentence and maximum possible penalty.
As the investigation continues, the public is left wondering how a law enforcement official could be involved in such a large-scale narcotics operation. The case against Raygoza serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against corruption and the importance of holding those in power accountable for their actions.
