Juan Hernandez, Trafficking Heroin and Cocaine, Connecticut 2023

⏱ 2 min read

A Mexican national is facing up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to running a massive heroin and cocaine operation in Connecticut, using the US Mail to ship in the goods and arming himself with guns.

Carlos Gonzalez Nava, 26, was busted in March after a months-long investigation by the US Postal Inspection Service, DEA, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Authorities say Nava was the primary recipient of the packages, which contained nearly a kilogram of heroin and 400 grams of cocaine. When they searched his New London home, they found four firearms, including semi-automatic pistols and a shotgun.

Nava pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine, and to unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

He’s due to be sentenced on July 16 in Hartford federal court. Nava has been in custody since his arrest.
